This Stage Plus premade data cable (SP-CABBIA5MXA5FX001S) is a 1 m DMX lighting control lead terminated with genuine Amphenol 5-pin XLR connectors: an AC5M male plug at one end and an AC5F female socket at the other. Both are Amphenol's AC-series inline cable connectors with machined contacts and a nickel finish, and the AC series uses Amphenol's 'Jaws' cable-retention clamp to take strain off the solder joints. The cable is Sommer Cable's black Binary DMX/AES data cable, a twisted-pair data cable with the impedance DMX needs, which is far more reliable over long runs than ordinary microphone cable. Five-pin XLR is the connector the DMX512 standard specifies, so this lead links lighting consoles, dimmers, moving heads, LED fixtures, DMX splitters and wireless DMX transceivers. The 1 m length suits daisy-chaining closely spaced fixtures on a truss or lighting bar, and short patches between a console and a nearby splitter or dimmer rack.
