This Stage Plus premade data cable is a 10 m lead terminated with 5-pin XLR connectors: an Amphenol AC5M male plug at one end and an Amphenol AC5F female plug at the other. It is built by Stage Plus, AV Distribution's in-house cable and staging brand, on Sommer Cable's Binary series, a 110-ohm digital cable designed for AES/EBU audio and DMX512 lighting control data. The 5-pin XLR format is the standard DMX connector on professional moving heads, LED fixtures, dimmers, lighting desks and splitters, so the cable is mainly used to daisy-chain lighting fixtures on stages, in churches, clubs and event venues. Using proper 110-ohm data cable rather than ordinary microphone cable helps avoid signal reflections and flickering or erratic fixtures on longer DMX runs. Amphenol AC-series connectors have machined contacts and a nickel finish and are designed for repeated connection on tour. The 10 m length suits runs between fixtures on a truss or from a lighting desk to the first fixture. Remember to terminate the end of each DMX line.
