This Stage Plus premade microphone cable is a very short 0.3 m balanced XLR lead, assembled in South Africa by Stage Plus, the in-house cable and staging brand of AV Distribution. It uses Sommer Cable's SC-Stage 22 Highflex microphone cable, a two-core 0.22 mm2 cable with a 6.4 mm soft black PVC jacket that resists pulling and knotting, fine stranded conductors for low capacitance and a dense copper spiral shield of about 99 percent coverage. One end has an Amphenol AC3MM male XLR-3 plug and the other an Amphenol AC3F female XLR-3 socket. A 30 cm lead like this is used for short patching jobs rather than microphone runs: linking equipment inside a rack, connecting a wireless receiver to a stage box or splitter mounted beside it, jumping between a multicore fan-out and a DI box, or patching between units on a mixer desk without a loop of excess cable. Being standard XLR-3, it carries balanced microphone or line-level audio and phantom power, and it can also be used for DMX on 3-pin lighting equipment where appropriate.
