This Stage Plus premade patch cable (SP-CABSTA3MXTS3P0.5S) is a short 0.5 m lead with an Amphenol AC3MM 3-pole male XLR (nickel, machined contacts) at one end and an Amphenol TS3P right-angle 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) stereo jack plug at the other, made up by Stage Plus in South Africa on black Sommer Cable 'Stage' two-conductor balanced cable. An XLR-to-TRS patch lead like this is used to connect balanced line outputs and inputs between equipment with different connector types, for example mixer inserts or outputs to processors, amplifiers, interfaces and rack effects, where the short length and angled jack keep rack wiring neat. Sommer's Stage 22 Highflex cable has two 0.22 mm² (AWG 24) oxygen-free copper conductors, foam-PE insulation and a 100 % copper spiral shield under a flexible 6.5 mm PVC jacket rated from -25 to +80 degrees C. Amphenol lists the TS3P as a 90-degree stereo phone plug with a plastic backshell and nickel tip, ring and sleeve (comparable to Neutrik NP3X/NP3C). Stage Plus pre-assembles its audio cables in-house with professional hardware.
