Garmin Surround View System

Garmin's marine Surround View System is a docking-assistance camera package that stitches live video from six 1080p cameras mounted around a boat's hull - three forward-facing units at the bow, one aft-facing camera at the stern, and two side-facing cameras - into a single real-time, bird's-eye overhead view of the vessel and its immediate surroundings. The stitched feed displays on a compatible Garmin chartplotter or multifunction display at the helm, giving the skipper a top-down view that eliminates the blind spots any single camera or direct sightline would otherwise leave.
The system's main use case is close-quarters maneuvering - docking in a tight marina slip, coming alongside a jetty, or navigating a crowded boatyard - situations where hull-height sightlines from the helm alone make it easy to misjudge distance to a piling, another vessel, or the dock edge. Individual camera feeds can also be viewed on their own rather than only the combined overhead composite, useful for checking a specific blind corner directly. Garmin pairs the video feed with an object-detection proximity beeper that sounds an audible alert as the boat closes in on a nearby obstacle, with the beep rate increasing the closer the vessel gets - giving an audible cue for close-quarters work even when the operator's attention is split between the display, the wheel, and looking around the boat itself. It integrates through Garmin's existing marine network architecture rather than needing a standalone monitor.
