The Synology RS1226RP+ is an 8-bay rack-mount NAS from Synology's Plus Series, aimed at SMBs and IT departments needing rack-integrated network storage with room to grow. It's built on an AMD Ryzen V1500B processor (an embedded quad-core chip Synology uses across several Plus-series units) with 4GB of RAM as standard, expandable up to 32GB for heavier workloads like virtualization or more demanding Synology app usage. Dual 2.5GbE network ports allow link aggregation or failover for better-than-gigabit throughput, and a dual (redundant) power supply protects against a single PSU or feed failure - a meaningful reliability feature for production storage. Runs Synology's DSM operating system, giving access to the same backup, virtualization and file-sharing app ecosystem as Synology's desktop NAS range, just in a rack-optimised chassis.
