The Toshiba HDEPZ12GEA51F is a 14TB 3.5-inch enterprise hard drive from Toshiba's Enterprise Capacity MG Series, sold through South African distribution as the retail/distribution part of the MG09ACA14TE. It is built for machines that run around the clock: rack and tower servers, NAS boxes with four or more bays, surveillance recorders and backup targets where a desktop drive would be worked far beyond its rating. The drive spins at 7,200 rpm on a SATA 6Gb/s interface, uses conventional magnetic recording (CMR) rather than SMR, so RAID rebuilds and sustained writes behave predictably, and sits in a helium-sealed enclosure for lower power and heat per terabyte. Toshiba rates the MG Series for 24/7 operation with a 550 TB/year workload and 2.5 million hours MTTF, roughly ten times the workload of a typical desktop drive. It is a bare drive: no cables, screws or caddy are included, so plan your mounting hardware or NAS trays accordingly.
