The Total Fabrications OV40 Truss Pickup Beam (OV40-TPB) is a rigging accessory for the 40 cm (400 x 400 mm) OV40 square truss system from Total Solutions Group in the UK. A pickup beam sits on top of the truss and spreads the load across the top chords so that a chain hoist or motor can lift the truss from a single, centred pickup point, instead of wrapping a round sling around the chords. It is rated at 1,000 kg, measures 422 x 170 x 65 mm and weighs 5.2 kg according to the manufacturer's datasheet. The wider OV range is designed to the Eurocodes and manufactured to EN 1090 in EN AW-6082 T6 aluminium, with the OV40 rated at about 1,450 kg uniformly distributed load over a 9 m span (see the full load tables). It is used by lighting and rigging companies for flown lighting rigs, video walls and roof systems. Rigging should be carried out by competent, trained riggers using correctly rated shackles and hoists.
