The TP-Link Archer MR402 is a 4G LTE router with a built-in modem. Insert a nano SIM, switch it on and it shares mobile data over dual-band AC1200 Wi-Fi: up to 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 867 Mbps on 5 GHz. LTE downloads reach up to 150 Mbps. In South Africa it is a practical choice where fibre isn't available, for a small office or holiday house, or as a backup line during outages. Two detachable LTE antennas improve reception. The LAN/WAN port lets it work as a normal wireless router behind fibre or DSL, with 4G as an automatic failover. You also get three 10/100 LAN ports, up to 64 Wi-Fi clients, parental controls, QoS, guest networks, IPv6, OpenVPN/PPTP VPN and OneMesh support. Setup is done in the browser or with the TP-Link Tether app. In the box you get the router, a 1.5 m Ethernet cable, a 12 V/1 A power adapter and a quick installation guide. LTE bands include B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28 and TDD B38/B40/B41, so check them against your network.
