The TP-Link Tapo H500 Smart HomeBase is the central hub and local video store for a Tapo security system. It has 16GB of built-in eMMC storage and a bay for a 2.5" SATA HDD or SSD of up to 16TB (drive sold separately), so footage from your cameras stays at home with no monthly cloud fees. Recordings are protected with AES 128-bit and TLS encryption. The H500 connects up to 16 Tapo cameras or video doorbells plus 64 Tapo sensors, buttons and Sub-1G switches. It runs AI detection locally rather than in the cloud, including face recognition plus person, pet and vehicle detection, and can follow movement across cameras in the Tapo app. It also has a 110dB built-in siren, doorbell voice-call handling and an HDMI output for viewing camera feeds on a TV or monitor. It joins your network over Ethernet or 5GHz Wi-Fi (2.4GHz is not supported for the router link). In the box: the H500, power adapter, Ethernet cable, screws and a quick start guide.
