The Chase Edition configuration is tuned for teams following or supporting a lead race vehicle: it uses Garmin's built-in inReach satellite technology (subscription required) to provide real-time position tracking and two-way messaging between vehicles, even outside cellular coverage, so a chase crew can see exactly where the lead vehicle is on the course. It supports importing GPX course files for start/finish lines and waypoints, integrates with Garmin PowerSwitch for controlling auxiliary 12-volt accessories from the touchscreen, and includes 128GB of internal storage for maps and course data. A heavy-duty suction-cup mount lets the unit be moved between vehicles quickly. Battery life is rated at up to 6 hours at 50% backlight, dropping to roughly 1 hour at full brightness, so most installations run it on vehicle power. Bluetooth connectivity and external GPS/inReach antenna ports round out the feature set for permanent vehicle mounting.
