The Verbatim 49146 is a compact USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet adapter that gives a laptop, MacBook or tablet with a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port a wired RJ-45 network connection. It is aimed at slim modern notebooks that no longer have a built-in network port, and is useful wherever Wi-Fi is slow or unreliable, for example in offices, hotel rooms, boardrooms or when a stable connection is needed for large downloads and video calls. The adapter connects over USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) to a single Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 port, is bus-powered from the laptop so no power supply is needed, and is plug-and-play on Windows, macOS and Linux. The housing is brushed metal (black and silver) on a short fixed cable of about 10 cm, and it measures roughly 24 x 50 x 14 mm and weighs about 25 g, so it slips easily into a laptop bag. Verbatim rates it for operation between 5 and 40 degrees C. The package contains one adapter.
