The Verbatim Vi5000 512 GB is an internal M.2 2280 solid state drive using a PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe interface, for upgrading or building desktops and laptops that have a PCIe 4.0-capable M.2 slot (it also runs in PCIe 3.0 slots at the lower Gen 3 speed). Verbatim rates this 512 GB model at up to 5,000 MB/s sequential read and 2,500 MB/s sequential write, with random 4K performance of up to 375,000 read and 500,000 write IOPS, so boot times, application loading and large file transfers are much faster than on a SATA SSD or hard drive. It uses 3D NAND flash, is rated for 500 TB written (TBW) and a 1,000,000-hour MTBF, and operates between 0 and 70 degrees C. The bare drive measures 22 x 80 x 2.3 mm and weighs just 6.5 g, making it suitable for thin notebooks as well as gaming and office desktops.
