The Zebra RFD40 Premium Plus is a gun-grip handheld RFID reader that also functions as a standard 1D/2D barcode scanner via its SE4100 imager, aimed at retail and warehouse operations doing large-scale inventory counts, receiving or loss-prevention checks using UHF RFID tags rather than (or alongside) barcodes. This "Premium Plus" configuration uses a standard-range circular polarized antenna, suited to reading tags at typical handheld working distances with good tolerance for tag orientation (circular polarization is less sensitive to how the tag is angled than a linear antenna). Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity let it pair with a companion mobile computer or connect directly to a network, and its 7000mAh battery supports extended shifts of continuous scanning.
